The immediate impression on first opening this book is that it is full of wonderful colourful photography, both of outstanding quilts and scenes from nature. The colours are vibrant and the shapes almost quivering with a life of their own. The text is very readable and clear in meaning, and together with dozens of examples take the reader through a process of implementing principles of design - shape, line, colour, perspective, proportion - in their application to the quilting stitch. Step by step instructions and illustrations describe and teach how to execute the quilting design. A study of nature is encouraged as a means of developing an eye for these design elements which can then be translated into artistic patterns for quilting.</font></p>
