Abridelisten's DahliaABL posted her photo of this dahlia and I decided it would be fun to work on with my Photoshop software (I'm just a learner) to reconstruct the missing ends of petals that had been cropped off, remove the background and generally tidy it up for a new presentation. It is a pretty flower and made great "raw material" to work on.1 commentsQuilty

Quilty's GardenBy summer the Sweet Peas should be up and flowering all over the trellis against the concrete block wall and together with the Freesia, make a colourful show. To the right and beyond is more garden plus lots of big pots of flowering shrubs as well. This is a great sunny spot for sitting out with a mug of coffee.Quilty

Jacobean AppliquéFour blocks I have made so far, and I may make more as I have not decided what to do with them yet - a full sized bed quilt, a wall hanging, or whatever. I will probably make a wide border with vines and similar flowers in order to set them off. Quilty
Kowhai1.jpg
NZ KowhaiThe Kowhai (pronounced ko-fi) is a native tree, and with its yellow flower, it is a national symbol of New Zealand. This one is just beginning to blossom in our front garden. It will soon become a mass of yellow which will look glorious against a cloudless blue summer sky.Quilty
